Powered by a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V-6 to produce more than 450 bhp. MSRP ~$70,000. The on-sale date in the U.S. will be in the spring of 2008.
Audi R8
The R8 makes the most of its 4.2-liter aluminum-block V-8, delivering its 420 bhp through either a conventional gated 6-speed manual transmission or Audi’s 6-speed R tronic. Starting at $109,000, the R8 isn’t cheap.
Audi S5
Priced in the mid-$50,000 range, the S5 boasts 354 bhp from its throaty 4.2-liter V-8. A 5-speed Tiptronic won’t come until the middle of next year.
Ford Shelby GT500KR
A carbon-fiber hood will conceal a 540-bhp version of the supercharged 5.4-liter V-8.
Infinity G37 Coupe
Powering the rear-drive G is an all-new 330-bhp 3.7-liter aluminum-block V-6. The first engine to feature Infiniti’s Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL).
Lexus IS-F
All-new IS-F sports sedan will make more than 400 bhp and 350 lb.-ft. of torque from a 5.0-liter V-8. Launching the car from 0–60 mph in less than 4.9 seconds
BMW M3
Arriving in Spring 2008, armed with a Formula 1-inspired 414-bhp (420 bhp DIN) 4.0-liter V-8, the M3 is one of the fastest coupes around. M3 can sprint from 0–62 mph in 4.2 seconds. Expect the sticker price to start in the low $60,000s.
Maserati GranTurismo
Under the hood is the 4.2-liter V-8, tuned to produce 405 bhp at 7100 rpm. A new smooth-shifting semiautomatic transmission manufactured by ZF. Talk is money, the Maserati GranTurismo will be in the $110,000 neighborhood.
Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster
Designed and built by McLaren of Formula 1 fame. Powered by a supercharged 5.4-liter 626-bhp V-8. An estimated price of around $450,000.
Nissan Nismo 350Z
Unfortunately, no major modifications were made to the 3.5-liter V-6, so the car isn’t any faster in a straight line than the stock version. The Nismo 350Z will be limited to 1500 models in the U.S., and with an asking price of just $37,450.
Porsche 911 GT2
The new GT2 will officially be the most powerful 911 to roll off the Porsche production line, with 530 bhp on tap from its twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-6. MSRP $191,700.
Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series
The “Black” is powered by a 507-bhp version of AMG’s 4-cam, 32-valve V-8. Only 350 examples will come to the U.S., at $135,000 apiece.

wow, awesome cars. I’ve gotta say that the new Nissan GT-R has got to be my most awaited. Nissan bringing the skyline back is almost as good as toyota bringing back the supra. next after that is the BMW. I just like BMW.
I like the cars they look cool and seem cool but to call them then Top new cars for 2008 is wrong.

maybe you forgot, but other people have to continue living here after you die. you can’t take anything with you but everyone that’s still alive inherits your problems/mistakes/debts… that’s a very selfish outlook on life.
while i can look at these cars and enjoy them from a design standpoint, bigger more, powerful (ie, need more gas) gas engines are not what we need right now. whether or not you have money to burn, car companies can still build cars rich people but should consider some of the implications of those cars.
how can you convince an average person to buy fuel efficient cars when those with money get to do whatever they want?

This is all fine, but I was hoping this would show me some of the new, more… shall we say, “economical” releases of 2008/2009. not everyone can afford a car like that, and personally, I don’t care to dream of owning any of those.
I’ll take the new Fiat500. That M3 is easy on the eyes though. How much horsepower is really needed? It’s getting out of hand.

Stop calling it a Skyline! It’s a GT-R, Nissan aren’t using the Skyline name on the new 2008 GT-R.
We had the new M3 brought round at work last week, to show us the ins/outs. It has a nice carbon roof and a V10 – unless the US are getting a V8 version?
I guess there is one advantage to living in the UK/Europe – we get our cars before the US.

It’s not these cars that are going to affect the climate, Those battery powered cars are worse than these, they have less engine life, the batteries will never decompose,parts have to be shipped all over the world for those cars, you flower smelling girls should do a little research on automobiles before commenting.
