Nissan

Despite floating a plan that would attempt to stop the inevitable customer speculation in the GT-R by voiding the car’s warranty if it were sold in the first year, Nissan has come to the conclusion that they are, frankly, powerless to stop it. The company says it gave up on the plan because it wouldn’t be fair to the guy who really had to sell his car within that time.
The other folks who Nissan won’t be able to stop from making a bundle by marking up the car are its own dealers, who, let’s face it, are frothing at the mouth to have a GT-R on display in their showrooms.
Honestly, after years of trying to push Maximas and Sentras, if you were lucky enough to get some GT-Rs to sell, wouldn’t you add a little cream? For some new shoes for the kids? Especially since there will be only 1,500 sold the first year ? read more »

Ferrari

Lamborghini already had an SUV for sale more than 25 years ago and today Porsche’s Cayenne is a global success. Ferrari hesitated for a long time but has now decided to develop the world’s fastest SUV, or so says our Italian contact with insider info.
Our DTP expert than set to work with this information and produced the following renderings.
The project has been coded the “Ferrari FS 599 Fuoristrada” and its supposed world debut target date is the Geneva Auto Show 2010.
While the five-door will feature four-wheel drive its off-road capabilities are not among the top priorities of the Ferrari development team. read more »
The Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, Germany is now home to more than just automobiles.
The museum has been recognized by the Guinness Book of Records for creating the “strongest artificially generated tornado in the world.”
The 34.4 meter high (that is 37.2 yards to those metrically challenged) vortex was not designed as an attraction, but to channel smoke out of the building in the event of a fire.
The architecture wonderment that is the museum did not make use of any fire doors in the design (surely they would get in the way of the architect’s vision). read more »

Jaguar

So anyway, that new 2009 Jaguar X-Type we showed you this morning — the one currently being crucified in the comments? No need to worry: it’s not coming here.
On the same day it announced the updated version for the rest of the world, Jaguar has officially pulled the plug on the X-Type in the US.
The car’s biggest sales year was 2003 when it was first introduced, and it has not met expectations since. Not even the introduction of the wagon for MY 2005 helped. read more »

Yamaha

If you like riding the motorbikes, and need an excuse to travel to the land of the rising sun, look no further than Yamaha’s Tesseract motorcycle that will debut at the Tokyo Motor Show.
It’s not a car, and don’t confuse it with an all-terrain vehicle; it’s a hybrid that should put those other alternative cycles to shame.
The added kick isn’t just the two additional wheels, but the V-Twin engine and electric motor as well as the mechanism that keeps the Tesseract upright when stopped or parked. read more »

At least one magazine has not heard that print is dead. Not only is Intersection magazine — where cars meet fashion — not dead, it’s doing so well that it can trash an Audi TT for a photo shoot. The TT, a 3.2 V6, was submerged in a pool in Chipping Norton, England, for the magazine’s cover and an inside spread. And since you can’t exactly go selling cars that have been used as submarines, the car was destroyed afterward.
We hope they at least removed the engine, since it didn’t appear in the shoot. Then maybe they can dip the V6 in chocolate for the next issue. Follow the jump to watch video of the shoot. read more »
